What You Can Do

There are many ways you can take action:

1. Join me every Wednesday from 12:00 -1:00 p.m. to stand in front of the Irving Shipyard to protest the building of the warships. Bring your own creative sign.
2. Circulate information on the 10 Reasons to Oppose the Warships to your friends and family and at your workplace/school/church.
3. Write letters to the editor of your local newspapers to express your opposition to the federal government spending $25 billion on the warship construction at the Halifax Irving Shipyard.
4. Phone, email, and write the Prime Minister, the leader of the NDP party, the leader of the Liberal Party, the leader of the Green Party, and your Member of Parliament to let them know that you are opposed to the government spending $25 billion on the warship construction at the Halifax Irving Shipyard.

Sadly, all the political parties support the National Shipbuilding Procurement Strategy. Not one party suggested in the House of Commons that $25 billion of Canadian tax dollars should instead be invested in National Green Economy Strategy, or a National Affordable Housing Strategy, or a National Early Learning & Child Care Strategy or for First Nations or for Municipal Infrastructure etc… Tell all the leaders of all the political parties cut military spending and invest in the social and environmental needs of Canadians. Our well-being not warships!

On Friday, January 25, 2013, I delivered these open letters to the leaders who all supported the National Shipbuilding Procurement Strategy and called on them to stop their support for the warships:
